It was also used for thousands of years in both Chinese and Ayurvedic medicine. The seeds were used to flavor Turkish coffee and Indian Chai tea ans well as Angostura Bitters. The oil of cardamom is produced through steam distillation of the seeds and has the following properties: anti-infammatory, antiseptic, anti-spasmodic, analgesic, digestive, diuretic, expectorant, stimulant and tonic. Cardamom essential oil can be used as an aid to digestion and helps ease stomach cramps and gas pains. It also makes an excellent bath oil as a tonic which refreshes and invigorates. Cardamom oil has an energizing, bright aroma and can be used to help refresh and lift one's spirits when feeling apathetic or unable to move forward.
